Glow in the corner

This weekend was great! It had all the essentials needed to have fun. There were flowers - some beautiful tiger lillies, friends, food and shopping! Yeah!!
Friday was a hectic day and night when I caught up with 3 groups of friends - one after the other. Lots of chatting, eating, drinking and laughing followed. Girls night outs are so much fun!
Saturday morning was visit-the-doctor-day to discover that N has been having an allergic cough since the last 10 to 15 days. But now that he's on the right medication he's feeling much better.

At night we caught up with friends who brought these beautiful flowers. Loved these tiger lillies and their aroma around the house. Made my day totally! The flowers found their way quickly on to my console table where they look great.



I also bought this lamp which I had been eyeing for the last 4 months.

It is a printed fabric floor lamp. Suits our living room corner perfectly and matches the colour theme.

 



It is from a place called Sunshine Boulevard in Koramangala, Bangalore. I love the other wall lights and floor lamps too at Sunshine boulevard. It is a must-check-out place if you are in Bangalore.

Cushions and Coasters

This weekend was a colourful one because of Holi! It was our first after being in India and it was a whole lot of fun. No harsh chemicals, no eggs, grease *makes a yucky face* or pucca rang (as they call it).
The apartment complex organizers had clearly told people to get organic colours or colours made at home. 
A few ideas on how to make colours at home -
Wet colors : soak & then boil beetroot or onion peels or any flower petals in water.
Dry colors : mix sandal wood or turmeric or henna powder with flour or arrowroot powder or corn starch.

Apart from this I reorganized and refreshed some decor. At the entrance to my apartment is this wooden seating area which also houses cabinets below for storage. I decided to brighten up that much neglected corner. A green plant, some colourful, slightly blingy (I love bling in small quantities) cushions and it became a comfy spot to sit and have a cup of coffee while reading a book.

In case you are wondering where these lovely cushion covers are from - they are from The Red River.

I love traditional Indian motifs like the golden one on this purple cushion and I also like to mix it up with something non traditional like these striped cushions.

The handmade cloth coaster is also from The Red River.

Spreading cheer!

I have been MIA from blogosphere, thanks to a sick and demanding child. I am beginning to dislike Bangalore weather, it keeps kids and lot of adults too, sick almost year round!
So in between all the trips to the doctor, sweet syrupy medicines and stories - tonnes of them, I noticed that spring is here. Though Bangaloreans might say that it feels like summer already!
What grabbed my attention were the pretty flowers across our apartment complex. And to add to that Rajee's post about flowers inspired me to share my favourites.

I love love love gerberas! I love the bright, cheerful colours. They look amazing with or without greens in between.

You can bunch them up together or one in each vase/tumbler.
